The book is for anyone interested in new ideas for better health, anyone who has ever been told they have a leaky gut or anyone who suffers from food sensitivities. This book is also for anyone who has ever been told by a health professional that they should consume a cup of bone broth daily and cannot imagine drinking yet another cup of soup.

Favorite Chapter:

My favorite chapter is Gelatin for Gut Health. Although there is text related to other health issues, this is one that has personally touched my family and is the area I hear the most about these days. With our over-consumption of pre-packaged, sugary foods and our tendency to eat ‘routine’ foods over and over, more people are experiencing food-related issues. The ability to learn from our mistakes, eat healthier and heal damage we may have already done is very appealing.

Top 3 Recipes:

My first recipe pick is the Glazed Carrots. While it’s a simple recipe and perhaps something you say you do every day without a recipe, it shows how simple it is to add bone broth to your daily food intake. Substitute carrots for your favorite veggie and let the bone broth into your diet naturally and easily.

My second pick – I’ll admit it – I used to be a gummy bear addict. I loved the sweet chewiness and I kept stashes of them everywhere. During my pregnancies they were my one and only craving. I love the recipe for Orange Gummy Bears, in part because I love the sweet tang of orange and in part because the gummy bear idea reminds me of the old, sugary treats I can no longer imagine eating. Any of the gummy recipes though would work in any shape mold so choose your favorite flavor or make up a mixed batch of flavors and open your own family ‘candy’ store.

Finally, I recommend the vanilla chocolate chip ice cream. With this variation on a family favorite you get the benefits of both gelatin and coconut milk. Rich and creamy, this ice cream stands on its own and makes any dessert something extra special. Used as a basic guide, all of these ice cream recipes inspire other ideas. How about bits of fruit instead of chocolate chips or perhaps a hint of mint? The ability to enjoy this cold sweet dessert without counting it as an indulgence means I can share some of my favorite childhood treats with my own kids.
