Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe [Paleo, Keto, AIP]
I’ve learnt a lot from being Paleo, and one of the main lessons is how to make lattes Paleo very quickly by swapping regular milk with coconut milk and changing the sweetener to a Paleo sweetener.
So, to make this delicious matcha green tea latte, I added in coconut milk and just omitted the sweetener (although you can add one in if you prefer). It’s a really easy recipe!
What is Matcha Powder?
Matcha powder is finely powdered green tea. Unlike regular green tea, which is made with dried tea leaves, you’re literally ingesting the tea leaves when it comes to matcha green tea. And that means you end up getting even more of the benefits of green tea with a cup of matcha tea than regular green tea.
You’re also getting more caffeine in a cup of matcha tea rather a regular cup of green tea. The caffeine amount in a cup of matcha tea is closer to what you’d get in a cup of coffee.
Matcha is also hailed for being high in antioxidants, including polyphenols and EGCG.
How Does Matcha Green Tea Taste?
It has a slightly grassy taste but also very fresh. It’s herb-like with green-tea aftertastes.
Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe
Place a teaspoon of matcha green tea powder into a teacup.
Add 3-4 oz hot water (just under a boil) to the teacup. Stir well. Most people suggest using a bamboo whisk to whisk the tea, but you can use a teaspoon instead.
Blend well and pour back into the teacup.
