Why Your Husband is Losing Fat Faster Than You
Unfortunately, fat loss is a bit variable from one person to another, and quite often, women struggle with fat loss more than men.
Part of that is evolutionary, since it was always more important for women to hang on to fat for childbirth.
All of that is just to say that it’s often easier for men (but not always – my wife loses fat much more easily than I do).
Generally, I tell people a few things:
1. If you’re losing fat (even slowly), or if you have stalled for less than 6 weeks or so, I’d just give it time. Our bodies occasionally need time to heal in some ways before resuming fat loss.
2. If it’s been longer than that, then your diet and lifestyle probably require a bit of tweaking (even if you’re doing all the same things as your husband). For instance, it might help to go a bit lower carb for a while (cutting out sweet potatoes, most fruit, etc). Or introducing more exercise can help – especially exercises that build lean mass (bone and muscle) like any sort of weight training. There are other tweaks (such as intermittent fasting), but those are 2 that often make a difference.
If you’re a woman, and you’re not losing fat as quickly as your husband, don’t fret. No matter what the reason, just getting on the right track, eating well, and staying healthy are all steps in the right direction.
Sometimes fat loss comes when we least expect it, and sometimes that can take a while.
Remember that life is about more than losing weight. It’s about energy, drive, and living a life you love. Being healthy is an important part of that, but it’s not the entirety of it.
