4 Quick Tips for Saving Money on a Paleo Diet
The hard part about saving money is that it really varies from person to person.
It depends on a lot on things like whether you have a family, where you live, what kinds of food you like to eat, and a million other things.
Still, there are a few tips that I have found to help almost everyone
4 Quick and Easy Tips to Save Money on Paleo Food
1. Focus on Veggies: Too often, we get so caught up on eating lots of delicious meat, that we forget vegetables are not only healthy but also relatively inexpensive.
Certain vegetables like asparagus will always cost more, but things like Swiss Chard, Zucchini, and Brussels Sprouts are both delicious and cost-effective.?
2. Focus on Big Wins: I hear people complain all the time about the cost of grass-fed beef. Grass-fed beef may be better than conventional beef, but the difference is far smaller than the difference between eating a ton of sugary snacks versus eating conventional beef.
Pick your battles wisely, and if you can’t afford something like grass-fed beef, go conventional until you can, but make sure to get big wins by ditching all the processed food.
All of that said, I still support the purchase of pastured beef, but much more because the animals tend to be treated much more humanely. It’s healthier for you, but it keeps me up more at night to know that animals are being mistreated than it does to know I ate a slightly less nutritious piece of meat.?
3. Buy and Cook in Bulk: I lived in a 700 square foot apartment for a very long time. So you can be sure that I didn’t have a huge freezer.
But I still shopped in bulk whenever possible. Not only does it make my life easier by being able to cook ahead of time, but it saves a ton of money compared to buying ingredients on a meal-by-meal basis.
4. Get Some Perspective: Often, someone will complain about their $200 grocery bill and then go spend $50 on eating out. I’m not saying that you should never eat out, but your grocery bill usually covers quite a few more meals.
When we want to really save money, we just never eat out.
