Favorite Bloggers: Empowered Sustenance
Lauren, although still very young, possesses a world of wisdom when it comes to health and nutrition. And much of that knowledge has been fueled by struggles with her own body and health.
Luckily for both her and for the rest of us, she was able to heal her body and learn and share a lot of great information and stories in the process.
Starting around the age of 13, Lauren began experiencing various digestive disorders, and at age 14, Lauren was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an auto-immune condition that affects the large intestine.
For the next 5 years, Lauren moved from one prescription drug treatment to the next, experiencing the full range of side effects without ever really healing her condition.
Lauren then started college on another huge dose of medication, while being told that if it didn’t work, she may need to have her large intestine surgically removed. She aced her first semester in college, but her condition and the side effects of the medication were too much for her.
Back at home, Lauren threw herself into learning everything she could about nutrition and digestive disorders. Beginning with a Specific Carbohydrate Diet, she cleared up ALL of her symptoms and stopped taking medication within just 2 weeks.
From there, she started a blog, wrote a few books, became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, and is about to return to college to study mind-body medicine.
As amazing as her story is, her blog Empowered Sustenance is perhaps even more impressive. Focusing on real food, chemical-free living, and various medical and health issues, Lauren has compiled a body of knowledge and experience that is helping hundreds of thousands of people on a regular basis.
If you don’t know (and I didn’t), Q-Link is a brand of Sympathetic Resonance Technology. In its most popular form, it’s a pendant that is “designed to improve the energetic state of the body by amplifying the biofield, which is the vibration of our body.”
The reason this is our favorite article is because it’s so indicative of the kind of things we learn about from Empowered Sustenance. I haven’t personally tried the Q-Link yet, but I plan to, based mostly on Lauren’s article.
Why We Love it and You Will Too
Lauren covers an incredibly wide range of topics, from recipes, to DIY skin and hair-care products, to the science of digestion and nutrition. But what we really like is that Lauren is completely without an agenda, other than to provide the most useful and practical information.
Whereas many bloggers and health experts ascribe to a particular way of thinking (and yes – this applies even to Paleo bloggers), Lauren is open to trying just about anything. In addition, she draws from numerous traditions, including traditional eastern medicine, modern dietary science (Paleo, GAPs, SCD, etc.), and her own experience.
If you haven’t already gotten to know Lauren, I think you’re in for quite a surprise.
