July 7, 2019 – July 12, 2019

One of the most unique locations we offer! This property is on a private peninsula on the southern coast of São Miguel island. A quick 10 minute hike from the town of Ribeira Quente and you’re on the property. You will have access to the pool at the base of the peninsula that feels like you’re sitting in the Atlantic Ocean. Because of the privateness and being off-grid, we have a very limited availability in this retreat. Expect to move a lot during the day and be able to relax in total peace and quiet during your daily downtime.

This trip is for the person who needs to deeply relax but desires adventure with a physical awakening and a mental and spiritual reorientation.

Focuses: Natural movement basics, joint health, meditation, relaxation, reconnecting with food, reorientation with circadian rhythm, EMF Detox.

Rachel Miller
Rachel MillerMultifaceted yoga instructor
Rachel Miller is a multifaceted yoga instructor with over 7 years of teaching experience, along with 6 years experience in the personal training field. Through working in both industries, she has combined these two modalities of movement into a truly unique yoga style that challenges the traditional expectation of a vinyasa class. Rachel is constantly evolving her classes based on new and creative movement patterns she learns both on and off the mat. She believes that yoga offers an opportunity to learn and gain deeper insight of the Self through movement; movement that doesn’t have to be contained to traditional yoga postures. Her classes include a variety of mobility exercises and strength building techniques tied together with consciousness practices including intention setting, breath work and meditation. Rachel holds certifications in FMS and Rock Tape, and is also a Stott Pilates trained instructor which has contributed to the depth of her teaching style.

How do you choose your retreat site locations?
We consider all of the Paleo Magazine Retreat principles when looking for a location. It has to be beautiful, relaxing, clean, comfortable and semi-remote. We want to pull away from our everyday and immerse ourselves in nature. We also want there to be plenty of fun and active excursions near by.

Is airfare included in the price?
No, we include everything once you step off the plane.

Do I need to coordinate my travel from the airport to the retreat?
We have set pick up and drop off times to choose from when you sign up. We recommend looking at flights and booking them around these times. If they do not match, we can arrange pick up for a fee. You are also free to rent a car if you would like to have your own vehicle.

Do I need a passport?
Depends on location. Please make sure before you book. Contact us for any questions.

Are there any specific vaccinations required?
Please check with the CDC website.

Are rooms booked coed?
Please note that for single person bookings, while we do our best to pair the same genders in a room, bookings can occasionally be coed (shared rooms).

Is there an age restriction?
Travelers must be 18+ years old.

Can I bring children?
We recommend you do not, as you will be doing activities 6-8 hours a day. We are planning on a parent and child retreat shortly, please contact us if that interests you.

How should I pack to be best prepared for the trip?
You will receive a recommended packing list once you sign up for a retreat.

What kind of diet is implemented on this trip?
We will be closely following a Paleo diet, while embracing the local culture’s cuisine of the location you are in. Basically lot of vegetables, roots, tubers, and a good amount of fat and animal protein. Occasionally we will have rice, oats, corn, depending on location. We always try to source all of our produce locally when available.

I am on a restricted diet, will you be able to accommodate me?
We can and have made arrangements for almost any dietary needs. Please address this before booking though.

Are we on a calorie restricted diet?
No, we are not. The food is typically served buffet style. It is high quality food and with the amount of movement we are doing everyday, you are encouraged to eat a lot. However, we eat 3 big meals a day, so there will be times when you may be hungry; there are always healthy snacks available if this arises.

How hard are the workouts?
As hard as you want them to be. This is your retreat, you get from it what you put into it. All of our classes are based off a natural movement program we have developed over the past 8 years. But, the intensity level is in your hands. Some classes are slow and focused, some are play based and some are conditioning based and higher intensity. Fun is always the focus though.

Should I be in good shape to come?
We need to define ‘good shape’. You should be able to walk 3 miles without pain or stopping and run a half mile without stopping. You should be able to squat into full position without pain. But, if you are not quite there yet, we offer programming to gear you up and prepare you for the retreat as soon as you sign up. This way you will be ready to go when you arrive if you aren’t currently already.

How much are we exercising per day?
You will be moving 5-8 hours a day. This doesn’t mean exercising only. You could have a hike and a movement class in the morning, a 4 hour cave and waterfall hike/cenote tour/mountain bike ride and then a yoga class or mobility in the evening. So, while you are moving a lot, it isn’t just “exercising” all day, however, you will be ready for bed.

Do you offer any payment plans?
Once you pay the deposit, you are free to make payments up until 60 days before the retreat. Full payment is required 31 days before the retreat.

How much is the deposit? Is it refundable?
The deposit amount depends on the retreat, when you check out, it will be available for you to select. This is non-refundable.

What is the cancellation policy?
No refund on deposit. If paid in full, you can receive a full refund minus the deposit up to 90 days before the retreat. Anything after 90 days is non-refundable.
