Review of Primal Kitchen Mayo
Mayo (short for mayonnaise)…a creamy combination of eggs and oil in an emulsified state. It’s delicious and an amazing addition to many dishes.
So, what’s wrong with the regular mayo you buy in the stores?
The main issue is that they use bad oils (non-Paleo oils that oxidize easily and/or are high in omega-6 fats). For example, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise contains “canola oil” or “soybean oil.”
Why Primal Kitchen Mayo is Better
The ingredients for Primal Kitchen Mayo are excellent! They’re simple and wholesome: Avocado Oil, Organic Pasteurized Eggs, Organic Egg Yolks, Organic Vinegar, Salt, and Rosemary Extract.
Avocado oil doesn’t have a specific taste, so it really tastes just like mayo! It has a good consistency as well, although you may need to give the jar a stir if it separates (there are no emulsifiers in it to keep the ingredients purer).
How To Store Primal Kitchen Mayo?
It needs to be refrigerated after opening, and they recommend you consume it within 60 days.
Why Not Make Your Own Primal or Paleo Mayo?
Yes, definitely. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s not that difficult to make your own mayo. It’s just so much easier in our busy lives to buy a jar and use right out of the fridge rather than having to go to the trouble of making it. However, if you’d like to try your hand at it here’s my favorite recipe using coconut oil.
Use Primal Kitchen Mayo to Make Other Condiments
Want ranch dressing or other salad dressings? Many of them start with mayo as the base ingredient, so you can make these condiments much faster with Primal Kitchen Mayo. Try this easy Paleo ranch dressing or choose from one of these many Paleo salad dressings.
